Abstract
A filter with a deep bed of graphite granules with top entry and bottom outlet has an outer truncated cone shaped casing at its upper part. Inside this casing is an assembly of coaxial truncated cone shaped walls flairing towards the bottom. The enclosure surrounding the graphite bed is truncated cone shaped flairing towards the top. At the bottom of the bed is a support plate that is inclined at an angle to the horizontal and slopes towards an extn. valve. The angular opening of the cone stump forming the wall is 0 - 10 degrees. Used as a filter for water circulating through a nuclear reactor and as filter for the continuous blowdown of a boiler. Truncated cone shape wall maintains uniformity of bed and sloping base plate assists in removing of filter bed.
