Abstract
1301164 Wrapping wire on terminals SIEMENS AG 25 Sept 1970 [29 Sept 1969] 45758/70 Headings B3A and B3E [Also in Division H2] Wire 4 is wrapped around a contact pin 10 by a rotatable spindle 2, which has a hole 19 in one end for receiving the pin 10, a passage 6 for the insulated wire 4 and an insulator stripper 12 for partially cutting through the insulation and retaining the portion of insulation within the spindle 2 as the bare wire passes out to be wound. In operation, insulated wire 4 is fed through the passage 6, through a passage (5) (Fig. 1, not shown) in the spindle 2 and out through a shearing aperture (7) in a fixed casing 3 surrounding the spindle 2. The other end of the wire 4 is inserted in a slot 20 in the casing 3. When the spindle 2 is rotated, the surplus wire 4 protruding from the shearing aperture (7) is cut and the insulated wire 4 adjacent the end of the passage 6 is automatically forced into the insulation stripper 12 which cuts through the wire 4 around part of its circumference. The insulation lying within the passage 6 is retained by the stripper 12 so that upon further rotation of the spindle 2 the insulation is completely severed by tearing, thereby allowing bare wire to pass out of the recess 16 of the stripper 12 and be wound around the pin 10. The end face of the spindle 2 is provided with a projection 17 for initially forcing the wire 4 against the pin 10. Two wires may be simultaneously connected to the pin 10 by providing a larger insulation stripper (Fig. 11, not shown) or two separate strippers (Fig. 10, not shown).
