1300241 False-twisted composite yarn KUNSTSEIDEN AG 2 Feb 1970 [19 Feb 1969] 4816/70 Headings D1F and D1W In a process for the production of a woollike composite yarn by false-twisting, fixing the false-twist and winding the yarn after it has been twisted back, one or more multifilament yarns 8 are delivered freely to a multifilament core yarn 1, within the false-twist zone, either perpendicularly or substantially perpendicularly to the axis of the core yarn, before entering a false-twist spindle 10. The yarn 1 is delivered by a mechanism 2 to a heater 5 and false-twist spindle 10, from which it is delivered by mechanism 12 to a wind-up mechanism 13, 14. The composite yarn may be subjected to a second fixing treatment and then to twisting after it has been wound up. The cover yarn or yarns 8 may be delivered to the core yarn 1 at a point 9 which may be before or after the heater 5. The cover yarn or yarns 8 are preferably fed to the contact point 9 by independently driven mechanisms 7, and the point 9 is allowed to move freely whereby knots are formed in the cover yarn at irregularly spaced intervals along the core yarn. The effects produced in the yarn can be varied by suitable variations in the following parametres: the delivery rate of the cover yarn; the take-off rate of the delivery mechanism 12; the rotational speed of the false-twist spindle; and the delivery rate of the core yarn. The delivery rates of the cover yarns may be subjected to brief fluctuations in accordance with a predetermined programme. The cover yarn or yarns 8 may be delivered in a twisted or untwisted state and are preferably overfed relative to the core yarn.
