Abstract

1299081 Vehicle crash barriers L C PEARSON 4 March 1970 [5 March 1969] 11824/69 Heading E1G A hollow crash barrier rail 1 is frangibly connected to each of its posts 2 by a latch 5 of T or hook (Fig. 6, not shown) shape which is inserted through an opening 3 in the bottom or side wall of the rail and then bolted to the post, either the bolt 6 or the cross bar of the latch 5 being frangible. The connection shown also includes a protrusion 4 on the post which loosely engages the same or another aperture 3 and which is wholly or partly withdrawn on impact. The posts may be of Z, I or U section disposed to be weak in the direction longitudinally of the rail.
