Abstract

1,105,990. Crash barriers. SOCIETA INIZIATIVE NAZIONALI AUTOSTRADALI S.p.A. V. GIAVOTTO and C. CAPRILE. 15, Dec., 1966 [28. March, 1966], No. 56182/66. Heading E1G. A crash barrier has a rigid first stage more remote from the road than a less rigid second stage. The rigid first stage comprises two parallel I-beams 3 secured by their flanges to I section vertical supports of less rigidity. The plastically deformable second stage is formed from vertical lengths of truncated isosceles triangular section 5, secured by flanges 5a to the flanges of girders 3 and carrying W section guard rails 6.
