Abstract

The tubular spacer block (3) is for use in mounting vehicles impact safety fence rails (1) on the support posts (2), and is of simple construction. The block (3) comprises a length of square, rectangular or trapezoidal hollow metal section. The section is deployed with the tube axis vertical and has a transverse stiffening diaphragm (32). The diaphragm aligns perpendicularly to the longitudinal rail axis. The bottom edge of the block may be cut obliquely (31). The diaphragm (32) may be positioned so as not to interfere with fixing bolt (36, 37) assembly. The diaphragm may include a rain-water escape hole (33). The mounting of the block may be such that it separates from the post under vehicle impact.
