Abstract

1299017 Pulley blocks HUMBER-ST ANDREWS ENG CO Ltd 18 June 1971 [20 June 1970] 30039/70 Heading B8B A pulley block for trawling net cables comprises a pair of members 18, 24 pivoted in scissors-like relationship to each other on a common pin 22 supported in a pair of members 12 pivoted at 14 to a fishing vessel, one pair of the extremities of the members 18, 24 forming a pair of jaws, one of which carries a spring- loaded pulley 20, and a double-acting hydraulic ram 30 for opening and closing the jaws. The axle of the pulley 20 is pivotable about a pin 28 on the member 18 and is spring biased into the operative position shown. With the jaws closed they are pivotable about the pin 22 and the members 12 are pivotable about the pin 14, between the bulwark 36 of the vessel and a stop assembly secured to the vessel. In the embodiment of Fig. 5 (not shown), the scissors arrangement of members is pivotally mounted on a yoke secured to a vertical pin which is rotatably received in a support on the vessel's bulwark, rotation about this pin being controlled by removable stop members associated with the support.
