Abstract

1297239 Golf clubs ACUSHNET CO 29 Oct 1971 [15 Jan 1971] 50351/71 Heading A6D A golf club other than a putter (i.e. a "wood" or an "iron") has a loft of at least eight degrees and comprises a club head and a shaft, the club head being characterised by having a radius of gyration greater than 1.05 inches when measured with respect to an axis parallel to the shaft and passing through the centroid of the club head. This may be achieved by shaping the club head as shown in Fig. 4 and may be assisted by weights 40 of lead or tungsten or tungsten alloy or other material denser than the club head. The heel weight may conveniently be located in an extension of the hole receiving the shaft in the hosel.
