Abstract

1309854 Correlated golf clubs K SOLHEIM 25 March 1970 [9 July 1969] 14451/70 Heading A6D In a set of correlated iron-type clubs, each club has a different loft A and lie C and a plane containing the shafts 12 axis and parallel to the leading edge of the club face is a constant distance 'x' from the centre of a ball at the moment of impact, said plane making an angle with the club sole 17 which is less than 90‹ for the club with the smallest loft and increases as the loft increases to a value greater than 90‹ for the club with the highest loft. The height H, thickness T and length L of the club head are maintained constant for each club, the length L being measured along a plane a constant distance Z above the ground. The height H may be measured from the point 24, Fig. 1, or, in a modification, the point 26, Fig. 5. The slope of the sole for each club may become more negative (i.e. smaller) to either side of the sweet spot P. The upper toe 20 may be larger than for a normal club. A hollowed out portion 23 may be provided.
