Propelling by water jets.-A gaseous fluid other than steam is heated, or compressed, or heated and compressed and then ejected so as to entrain a heavier fluid, preferably water, whereby the mixed fluid issues to propel a ship. An air-compressor C is driven by the motor M; the compressed air first passes to a heater Ch, where it may mix with products of combustion, and thence to nozzles T<3>, T', which are surrounded by other nozzles T<5>, T<6>, placed in water conduits T<7>, T<8>.
