1296190 Incinerators TAMPELLA AB OY 19 April 1971 [18 March 1970] 24646/71 Heading F4B Refuse is fed to shaft 3 by a screw 2, and burns with preheated air from tuyeres 4. Slag unburnt particles and gases pass downwardly to an offset chamber 10, where slag collects in a pool 7, heated by secondary combustion promoted by preheated air delivered at 17. A step 18 and arch 19 retard unburnt refuse and direct gases to impinge in the slag bath. Damp gases from the top of the shaft and gases from above the slag pool are burnt in a second shaft 14 with additional air, the exhaust gases passing through air heater 13 to the chimney. The slag pool 7 is collected in a hearth 8, which is tipped at intervals to discharge slag to be cast into large blocks or slabs
