1295275 Soap-detergent tablets UNILEVER Ltd 29 Oct 1970 [31 Oct 1969] 53538/69 Heading C5D A personal washing tablet comprises a tallow soap and a water-soluble salt of a primary or secondary linear alkyl sulphate having a total number of carbon atoms of 6 to 10 per molecule, wherein the minimum sodium cation content is such that the weight of the soap and the sulphate having sodium cations is greater than the weight of the soap and the sulphate having other cations. The tallow soap is the sodium, potassium or ammonium salt, of which at least 75% is the sodium salt, of (a) fatty acids derived from tallow class fats or (b) a blend of alkyl carboxylic acids such that at least 90% are straight-chain acids with 16-24 C atoms per mole, not more than 16% being di-unsaturated and not more than 64% being mono-unsaturated, the remainder being predominantly saturated. The salts of the alkyl sulphates are alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, NH 4 and amine salts. The tablets contain 40-82% of the tallow soap and 3 to 40% of the alkyl sulphate. Conventional additives may be present. Nut oil (up to 10%) and superfatting agents (up to 30%), e.g. stearic acid, glyceryl monostearate or cetyl alcohol, may also be present.
