1294976 Two-part couplings SOC COQFRANCE 12 Feb 1970 [9 Dec 1969] 6753/70 Heading H2E A high-voltage connecting device for connecting together two conductors A1, A2 in different compartments B1, B2 comprises cups 1a, 1b in the compartments filled with an insulating liquid and containing socket contacts 2a, 2b each connected to one of the conductors A1, A2. A conducting U-shaped bar 3 has each of its ends 3a, 3b inserted in one of the cups 1a, 1b to make connection to the corresponding contact 2a or 2b. The exposed part 3m of the bar 3 is insulated and the insulation is coated with metal. Electric deflectors 4a, 4b are carried by sleeves 5a, 5b mounted on the compartments' walls. The insulation on the part 3m of the bar 3 may be moulded plastics material or may be formed by stratification or lamination, e.g. reeled and impregnated glass fibre. The ends of the bar 3 may be formed with socket contacts (3c, Fig. 2, not shown) for connection to plug contacts (2c) in the cups. A fuse in a box may be included between a jaw formed at one end of the bar 3 and a solid pin for connection to the respective contact in the cup. The conductors A1 and A2 may also be bars, cable ends, switch contacts, sectionalizing switch contacts or break switch contacts. The tops of the cups 1a, 1b may be provided with shutters.
