Abstract

1293609 Electrostatographic processes XEROX CORP 23 Dec 1969 62688/69 Heading G2H An electrostatographic imaging process comprises forming a latent electrostatic image on the surface of a layer of soluble organic material having a conductive substrate, and developing the image by immersing in solvent to dissolve away the uncharged portions of the soluble layer more than the charged portions, thus producing a relief image. This system is positive to positive, but the plate may then be heated to cause frost deformation of the recessed portions of the image to provide a negative. The soluble layer is preferably photo-conductive and may include a dye. The substrate may be steel, brass, aluminium, Nesa glass, paper or resin. The relief image may be inked for printing.
