Abstract

1293263 Pressure applying bandages; apparatus for measuring blood pressure S J SARNOFF 21 Jan 1970 [11 Aug 1969] 2989/ 70 Addition to 1206605 Headings ASR and ASK The elongate flexible support of Specification 1,206,605 is fitted with a bar 40 at one end extending transversely of the support and generally coextensive with the width thereof to facilitate fixing the bandage with one hand only, (Figs. 2-3, not shown), which bar has a slot 44 extending along most of its length, which slot is formed with an open portion 46. A locking clip 48 is pivotally mounted at 50 and adapted to fit over the portion 52 of the bar 40. The extension band 54 of the flexible support may be inserted into the slot 44, turned back on itself and removably adhered to the flexible support by means of cooperating interengaging fasteners. At least one elongate leaf spring (38), Fig. 5 (not shown) is fitted longitudinally into the support to cause it to assume a partial, generally cylindrical shape. The pressure relief valve of the main specification is of a modified construction and may be held in a closed position by the screwing down of a valve cap (130), Fig. 8 (not shown). The extension band 54 is formed as one piece 56 and folded into two ply form as shown, its folded length being extendable up to the length of the single strip 56 and the band 54 being maintained in a folded configuration by pressure actuated fastenings 60. The bandage assembly may be used as a sling, Fig. 4 (not shown), wherein the band 54 is generally fully extended and then removably secured to the support 22 as described above.
