The usual curtain tie back is fastened in posi- 'Y tion by tacking the same at the edge of the Window casing by means of a small nail or so calledv tie back pin which has an enlarged decorative head thereon. This manner of securing the tie backs to the window casing is objectionable because each time a curtain is rehung a new hole is invariably made in the said casing. In time this said edge portion of the casing is lled with these smallfholes.

The general object of this invention is to provide a fastening device `of a construction such as to secure a curtain tie back in place without marring the Window casing.

A more specific object of this invention is to provide an anchor for a tie back pin of the above character which may be adjustable lengthwise of the window casing and readily secured in place.

Another object of this invention is to provide a bracket to which an anchor for the tie back pin may be adjustably secured.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the` appended claim.

Referring to the drawings for a more detailed description of the invention, I!) designates gen-.- erally a window casing from which there is hung a curtain II, such as by means of a curtain rod I2. "In accordance with'the preferred form of the invention, I provide a bracket designated generally I6 having integral right angularly arranged sides I1 and I8. The side I1 is provided with mounting openings I9 at the end portions thereof and the side I8 has an elongated opening or slot 2t extending lengthwise of the said side I8. A pair of brackets I6 is provided for each window casing Ii! and these are positioned opposite each other at the sides of the casing with the side I1 in abutting relation with the edge 2I and in a manner such that the side I8 extends outwardly from this edge 2| to be substantially flush with the surface of the face of the casing. The bracket may be attached in position in any appropriate manner such, for example, as by means of screws 22 extending through the openings I9 and into the edge 2I.

An anchor member designated generally 23 (see Figures 4 and 5) has an externally threaded shank 2d and is provided with a central threaded opening 25 and an enlarged head 26 non-circular in cross section. The member 23 is attached to the side I8 of the bracket by passing .the shank 24 through the slot 20 with the head 26 thereof engaging the rear surface of said side I8 (see Fig. 2). A knurled circular nut 21 engages the shank 24 to adjustably secure the said member 23 to the side I8. The head 26, as previously stated, is non-circular in cross section and is of a size to engage the adjacent surface of the side I1 (see Fig. 5) which prevents rotation of the anchor member 23 so as to facilitate the manual turning of the said nut 21 without the use of tools.

The free ends of the tie back I3 are attached to the member 23 by means of a headed pin 28 which has a sharp pointed threaded shank 29 (see Figure 4) which passes through the saidL free end portion of the tie back ends between the anchor 23 and the head 30 of the tie back pin 28. The head1-iti may be of any decorative shape.

The bracket I6 may be made of any suitable material such as sheet stock blanked and bent into proper shape or the same may be molded from appropriate materials, such for example, synthetic plastic materials.' In some instances, the bracket may be shaped as shown in Figure 6 wherein, the side I1 is omitted and pierced ears 3l are provided at the end portions of the said side I8 for attaching the bracket to the window casing l0.

In Figure 7 I have shown a modified construction of a bracket which is particularly adapted to be attached to the front surface of the sides of the window casing. The bracket comprises a body 44 having a iiange 45 extending inwardly thereof and a slot 46 extending lengthwise of the said body 44. The said body is also provided with attaching ears 41 at each end thereof and kwhich ears are provided with an opening 48 for receiving a screw 49 for attaching the said bracket to the window casing. The anchor 23 is mounted on the bracket 44 in a manner similar to that above described by passing the shank 24 `thereof in place by means of the nut 21.

It will now be apparent that I have showna l,

device which is particularly adapted for providing an anchor for the tie backs of curtains which is suiciently simple to be readily perma nently attached in position on the window casing and to which the said tie back may be anchored.

I claim:

A curtain tie-back device comprising a bracket having a longitudinal slot therein, at member having a threaded portion extending through said slot and provided with a threaded opening therein, threaded means for engaging said threaded portion for securing said member in adjusted position on said bracket, a tie-back strap adapted to be formed into a loop for enclosing the curtain to be tied back, and a pin member having a pointed end adapted to pierce said strap and a threaded'shank for engaging said opening for securing said strap to said CHARLES H.
