CURTAIN TIEBACK FASTER NG DEVICE Filed March 18, 1940 In ventor Jose b4 1 7G104 Peharz By 2mm Patented May 20, 1941 UNITE. STATES PATENT QFFIQE.
2,242,478 CURTAIN TIE'BACK FASTENING DEVICE Joseph Frank Pekarz, Guilford, Conn.
Application March 18, 1940, Serial No. 324,672
1 Claim.
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in fastening devices for curtain tiebacks, and has for its primary object to provide a clamping member secured to the edge of the window frame, said clamping member being in the form of a spring clip adapted for engaging the end of a tieback to secure the same in position.
A further object is to provide a tieback fastening device of this character adapted for adjustably attaching to the window frame for engaging and securing the tieback regardless of its position on the window.
A still further object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is neat and attractive in appearance, relatively inexpensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which Figure 1 is a front elevational view of a window showing the fastening device in position for securing the tiebacks.v
Figure 2 is an edge elevational view of one embodiment of the invention.
Figure 3 is a front elevational view and Figure 4 is a perspective view showing the manner in which the spring clip may be opened for receiving the tieback.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, the numeral 5 designates the fastening device which is of substantially U-form and constructed of spring metal with one leg portion designated at 6 sprung inwardly at its outer end against the surface of the opposite leg portion 1 whereby to close the open end of the fastener. The leg portion 6 extends beyond the end of the leg portion 1 and is curved slightly outwardly as shown at 8 to facilitate the engagement thereof by the finger of a person, as shown in Figure 4 of the drawing, to spread the same apart.
The legs 6 and I are provided with aligned openings 9, the openings in the leg portion 1 being adapted to receive screws or the like [0 for fastening the same to the side edge of a window frame ll, while the openings in the leg portion 6 provide access to the screws through the insertion of a screw-driver through said openings to force the screws into the window frame.
With the clip secured in the position as shown in Figure 1 of the drawing, the end of the tieback l2 may then be secured in position in clamping engagement between the legs 6 and 1.
It is believed the details of construction, advantages and manner of use of the device will be readily understood from the foregoing without further detailed explanation.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is: v
A curtain tieback fastener comprising a clip bent intermediate its ends upon itself into substantially U-form, said clip having aligned open ings in its end portions, the openings of one end of the clip being adapted for receiving attaching devices for securing said one end flatwise against a window frame and the openings in the other end of the clip being adapted for receiving a tool for engaging the attaching devices, said other end of the clip being free and adapted to clamp the tieback against the attached end of the clip.
