My invention relates to curtain fixtures and more particularly to that class known as tiebacks.

One of the principal objects of my invention is to provide a tieback so constructed and arranged as to receive therethrough a curtain or the like and maintain the latter in proximity to a window or door frame to present a neat and attractive appearance as well as protecting the curtain or the like from the weather in instances where said curtain or the like happens to be attached in proximity to an open window and exposed to weather conditions.

Another object of my invention is to provide a device of the above described character equipped with means to maintain the pleats or folds of the curtain or like in spaced relation thereby eliminating stretching or "bunching of the curtain within the tieback and at the same time precluding deformation of the folds or pleats.

A further object of my invention is to provide a tieback equipped with means for maintaining said tieback in a fixed position relative to the window or door frame thereby reliably maintaining the curtain extending through said tieback in a desired adjusted position.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a tieback of the above described character which is easy of attachment, simple in construction, durable in use, efficient in operation and economical in manufacture.

A special object of my invention is to provide a tieback of the above described character which is capable of being readily attached to a window or door frame without substantially modifying the same and also capable of being easily detached from said frame for readjustment thereon and for use on other frames.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, appended claims and annexed drawing.

Figure 1 is an elevation illustrating a doorway having my invention applied thereto for maintaining the curtain in adjusted position.

Figure 2 is a perspective view of the curtain holding member, illustrating the same in open position to receive a curtain therethrough.

Figure 3 is a fragmentary perspective view of a screw fastening member for securing the holding member to a door frame or the like.

Figure 4 is a side elevation of my invention. properly in section.

Figure 5 is a fragmentary top plan view of one end of my inventioniilustrating a position of the screw in attaching or detaching of a holding member therefrom.

Figure 6 is an elevation of a window frame illustrating my invention connected thereto in a manner to secure the curtain in an adjusted position in an upper corner thereof.

As illustrated in the drawing, my invention comprises a tieback equipped with a curtain holder 5 and a securing device 6 for securing the holder to the frame of a doorway l or the like. The holder 5 is preferably constructed of an elongated strip of resilient metal fashioned with a pair of coextending spaced arms forming front and rear members 8 and 9 respectively integrally connected together at one end thereof by an arcuate shaped end section Ill. The rear mem-' ber 9 adjacent the free end thereof, is fashioned with an angularly disposed offset section II to form a substantially horizontally disposed frame engaging section i2 equippedon the outer face with a prong l3 for penetrating the outer face of a window or door frame to maintain the device in adjusted position as hereinafter more fully described.

A right angularly disposed section It is integrally fashioned at one end to the section I! and formed at the opposite with a right angularly disposed section l5 having an end terminating in an angularly disposed lip l6 overlying the free end of the upper member 8 and in engagement with a similar lip l'l formed on said member 8 as clearly illustrated in Figure 4. The section I5 is formed with a keyhole slot l8 extending therethrough with the narrow portion of said slot extending through the lip it for a purpose hereinafter more fully set forth.

The outer face of the member 8 is fashioned with a plurality of apertured projections Illa for receiving the ends of a plurality of spaced pins l9 the opposite ends of which are secured to the inner face of the member 9 and the apertures of the projections i8a are of a greater diameter than the diameter of the pins i9 whereby the looped ends of convolutions forming the pleats or folds of a curtain or the like may be maintained in the apertures by the ends of the pins I 9 as clearly illustrated in Figure 4.

The section I2 is fashioned with an opening 20 registering with the larger portion of the keyhole slot It for receiving the screw 6 therethrough. The screw 6 is fashioned with a knurled head 2| and a shank 22, the lower end of said shank being fashioned with threads 23 for engagement with the window frame I and said shank is provided with a collar adjacent the lower end for engagement with the inner face of the section I! whereby to securely hold the section II to the outer face of the frame I and maintain the prong I! in penetrating condition with said frame. The upper end of the shank 22, subjacent the section It, is fashioned with oppositely disposed grooves 2| whereby to permit insertion of the shank through the narrow portion of the slot In use, the shank of the screw 22 is inserted in the opening 20 and keyhole slot l8, the upper member 8 being disengaged from the section I5, as illustrated in Figure 2. When the parts are thus assembled, the section II is placed against the outer face of a door frame'or the like and the screw 6 operated in a manner to force the prong l3 into penetrating engagement with the frame I, and in this position the collar on the shank 22 engages the inner face of the section l2 and maintains the holder l5 clamped to the door frame in a desired adjusted position. When the tie-back is thus secured to a door frame, the member 8 is forced outwardly from the member 9 to permit insertion of a curtain or the like therebetween and the folds or convolutions of the curtain arranged between the pins l9. when the curtain is thus arranged, the member 8 is moved towards the member 9 and the lip ll sprung under the lip l8 thereby locking the member 8 in adjusted position relative to the member 9. When the member 8 is thus locked, the outer ends of the pins I! maintain the folded sections of the convolutions of the folds clamped in adjusted position within the apertures of the projections l8a. When the folds of a curtain are thus arranged, it will be apparent that the latter will remain in adjusted position and present a neat and attractive appearance.

What is claimed is:

1. A device of the character described. comprising, a pair of spaced resilient front and rear members integrally connected together at one end and fashioned with free end sections, one of said sections formed with a lipped portion normally overlying the free end section of said other member and maintaining the latter in connected relation therewith, one of said members provided with projecting pins having rounded outer ends and the other of said members provided with apertured projections having curved inner walls andreceiving the outer ends of said pins to clamp looped sections of a curtain within said apertures to maintain said looped sections in a fixed position between said members.

2. A device of the character described, comprising, a pair of spaced resilient front and rear members integrally connected together at one end and fashioned with free end sections. one of said sections formed with a lipped portion normally overlying the free end section of said other member and maintaining the latter in connected relation therewith, one of said members provided with projecting pins having rounded outer ends and the other of said members provided with apertured projections having curved inner walls and receiving the outer ends of said pins to clamp looped sections of a curtain within said apertures to maintain said looped sections in a fixed position between said members, said rear member fashioned with an oflset portion adjacent the free end section thereof whereby to permit said rear member to be operated to and away from said lip portion to effect engagement and disengagement of said front member with and from said lip portion respectively.
