Abstract

1291950 Air curtains DISCO ENG Inc 22 Dec 1970 [12 Feb 1970] 60822/70 Heading F4V An air curtain is provided across an access opening 16 to a building 12, using air from within and/or from outside the building, by apparatus 10 comprising an enclosure 24 communicating through openings 49 with vertical ducts 28, 30 having discharge slots (32, Fig. 7) extending the entire length of the ducts. In use air from within and/or from outside the building is drawn into the enclosure 24, by means of blowers (102, Fig. 6), through inlet assemblies 82, 84 containing adjustable louvers (88, Fig. 4) and a removable filter element (100), and is passed over finned heat exchange coil assemblies 56 before being discharged through the slots 32 to form the air curtain. The coil assemblies 56 may be used to either heat or cool the air as required. A louvered partition (112, Figs. 8 and 9, not shown) may be interposed diagonally between the coil assemblies (56) to separata the respective air flows entering through inlets 82 and 84 if required.
