Abstract

1291093 Platform elevators CONSTRUCTIONS MILLS K 19 Dec 1969 [19 Dec 1968] 62088/69 Heading B8H A carriage for handling elongate articles stored in bins 20, comprises a horizontal apron 1 supported by wheeled legs 2a-2c for movement along rails 4 extending between two banks of bins 20, and an operator platform 16 capable of elevation by the operator into a position facilitating the manual transfer of an article from the adjacent bin on to the carriage. The carriage also includes weighing scales 9 incorporating rollers 7 on to which a transferred article is finally placed prior to deposit on a set of cradles 19 on the apron 1. The platform 16 including an article support roller 18 is mounted via an hydraulic ram operated scissors linkage on a frame 11 extending from a portion 10 of one of the carriage legs, the frame 11 being further supported by rollers 12. A similar platform (not shown) is mounted on the other side of the carriage. A platform 5 on the carriage and spaced below the apron 1 facilitates transportation of loads 22 which may normally be stored between the rails 4. In another embodiment (not shown), the operator's platform is integral with the horizontal apron which is mounted on expandable components providing for its elevation.
