Abstract
1288993 Time switches LANDIS & GYR AG 3 Aug 1970 [8 Aug 1969] 37337/70 Heading H1N In order to ensure that switching operations controlled by a star wheel 4 occur substantially simultaneously with switching operations controlled by a rotor 16, the star wheel 4 is stepped through a limited angle e.g. 60 degrees by a tappet 2, 3 of a time disc 1 and during the first part of this rotation a spring 18 secured to a shaft 14 and the rotor 16 is wound up. After a given angle of rotation of star wheel 4, a stop 22 restraining the rotor 16 is released so that the rotor 16 is rapidly rotated by the spring 18 and a projection 32 thereof catches up with an angularly adjustable synchronizing lever 30 on the shaft 14 to drive the shaft 14 and hence the star wheel 4 during the final few degrees of the limited angular movement initiated by tappet 2, 3. The star wheel 4 thus actuates cam follower contact springs 10, 11 and the rotor 16 actuates a cam follower contact spring 28 so that the respective contact sets are synchronously actuated in the final few degrees of the movement. The movement of the rotor 16 is arrested by the stop 22 co-operating with a projection of the rotor. As shown, the rotor 16 has a series of projections in a recess which are arranged alternately nearer and farther from its axis. The stop 22 is reciprocated in response to rotation of shaft 14 by the co-operation of rotary discs 25, 26 carried by a plate 23 carrying the stop 22 with a cam 24 carried by the shaft 14. The spring. 18 instead of being wound up through gears 12, 13 by star wheel 4 may be wound up by the clock mechanism (not shown).
