Abstract
911,398. Orientating and stacking springs. SPUEHL A.G. Feb. 6, 1961 [Nov. 23, 1960], No. 4318/61. Class 78 (1). A plurality of springs 11 are stacked together (after manufacture) into assemblies by a mechanism which includes arm 12, slide 14 and plate 38. Thus a spring 11 is pushed into the position shown from the left by arm 12, and the arm then operates hook 13 to release the spring before the arm is then retracted. Slide 14, which is reciprocated along passage 1 by rocking arm 25, then moves to the right and engages the spring at 19 to move it one step to the right. As it does so, the knot of the spring is engaged by plate 38, the plate 38 being carried by arm 29 pivoted at 31, and being oscillated when roller 32 is engaged by cam 36 carried by slide 14, so that the engagement of 38 with the knot of the spring rotates the spring about its own axis to a predetermined angular position. Then arm 12 likewise delivers the next spring to the position shown and the sequence is repeated, the slide 14 forwarding the spring to the right while simultaneously plate 38 engages and rotates the spring so that the second spring assumes the same angular orientation as the first and is intermeshed therewith. Likewise the next springs are delivered by bar 12, pushed by slide 14, and then rotated by slide 38, so that a spring assembly is completed having all the springs orientated similarly to give a compact mass.
