Abstract

128,684. Dunlop Rubber Co., Macbeth, C., and Sullivan, E. March 22, 1918. Lifting-dogs and the like.- Relates to apparatus for placing tyres in moulds and comprises a turret crane and means for supplying tyres and moulds in close proximity to the crane so that the tyres can be successively attached to the crane and placed by the crane in the moulds. The invention is particularly described as applied to solid rubber tyres. The turret crane is provided with three arms A', A<2>, A<3>, having suspended grabs E, each comprising gripping arms E<4> controlled by a hand wheel E' through a rod E<6> and limbs E<5>, adapted successively to lift the top member of a pile of cores B, transfer it to a pile of tyres C where the core is inserted into the tyre, and, if necessary, secured by a wedge, and to lift the core with the tyre thereon and transfer it to a mould D on a platform F.
