Abstract
1286043 Gas/liquid reactions; treating gases with liquids METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 5 Jan 1970 484/70 Headings B1F and B1R A gas/liquid mixture is passed upwardly, through reactor 1 so that the linear velocity of the gas through openings 4 is between 1 and 50 metres/sec in order to prevent liquid flowing back downwards through openings 4. The gas may be introduced as such, or may be formed by chemical reaction in the liquid phase. Solid particulate catalyst may also be present. Gas or liquid may be added to each chamber 3 separately through ports 11. Processes described are the catalytic hydrogenation of tallow fatty acid (Ex 1) the dechlorination of chloroparaffins (Ex 2) and the production of chloroparaffin (Ex 3).
