Abstract
1309427 Catalytic reactor AIR PRODUCTS & CHEMICALS Inc 18 March 1970 13005/70 Heading B1F The catalytic liquid hydrocarbon conversion reactor shown is adapted to prevent lifting or expansion of fixed catalyst bed 54 due to changes in pressures in the reactor. The reactor comprises inert granules 51', 52', 53', frustoconical member 44 with perforations 41 smaller than granules 51', a product outlet 43, a reservoir 35 of inert granules, an orifice 55 in a frusto conical member to allow flow of inert granules from reservoir 35 into the reactor as granules settle, orifice 55 being of such diameter as to be plugged by bridging of the inert particles if they are forced upwards by changes in pressure, and a valve 37 for allowing replenishment of reservoir 35. In operation, liquid diluent is introduced through pipe 13, liquid hydrocarbon is introduced through distributor 22' and reactant gas is introduced through distributor 22. Liquid reaction product passes through baffle 44 and is drawn off through pipe 43.
