Abstract
1285961 Controlling sintering processes NIPPON STEEL CORP 31 July 1969 [1 Aug 1968] 38413/69 Heading C1A [Also in Division F4] In sintering powdered material by charging a mixture thereof with a solid carbonaceous fuel and water on to a Dwight-Lloyd sintering apparatus, igniting the fuel with a direct flame furnace and supplying a downwardly directed air draught to burn the fuel in the charge, the surface temperature of the sinter bed is determined at the outlet of the furnace and the heat supplied by the furnace is adjusted to reduce the difference between the measured temperature and that necessary for agglomeration of the surface. As shown in Fig. 8, a calculator 35 receives signals corresponding to the water content (W), coke content (C), burnt bed depth ratio (K1) (defined) and grate velocity (V) together with signals (T#T) corresponding to the temperature measured by thermometer 36 and said temperature difference. A signal G is generated whereby the flow of coke oven gas to the igniting furnace 2 is controlled.
