Abstract

1285296 Knitting-machines STRUMPFKOMBINAT ESDA VEB 4 Dec 1970 57630/ 70 Heading D1C A pneumatic take-down for a circular machine comprises a rotatable tubular basket 7, mounted in the lower widened portion 1 of a stationary tube 2, and having a perforated funnel portion 9. The portion 9 is adjacent a suction opening 3, and the area of the perforations 9' corresponds to the cross section of the opening. The clearances between the basket and the inner and upper walls of the portion are also similar to the cross-section. Initially suction through the opening tensions the fabric as it depends into the tube 2 and until it enters the funnel portion. Suction through the perforations retains the end of the fabric in the funnel, whose rotation prevents twisting of the fabric but air flow past the top of the basket ensures continued fabric tension, when the article has ben completed it is withdrawn, through the bottom of the basket, by suction through the axial opening 4.
