Abstract

1284847 Stud and socket fastenings A RAYMOND 14 July 1970 [18 July 1969] 34137/70 Addition to 1127410 Heading E2B A clip 10 for attaching a moulding 32 to a support 33 having a headed stud 36 projecting therefrom comprises a body 11 formed with a slot 12 having one end opening out of one end of the body to divide the said one end of the body into two jaw portions 16, 17 which are resiliently movable towards and away from one another to grip and retain the stud slidably engaged therebetween, the other end of the slot terminating within the body and a portion 15 between the two ends of the slot being of reduced width. The outer faces 18, 19 of the jaw portions are undercut towards the undersurface of the body whereby the flanges 34, 35 of the moulding can be clamped against the support thereby and the undersurface of the body 11 is normally concavely dished whereby the body can be compressed between the support and head 37 of the stud. As shown, the clip has a secondary slot 24 defining arms 25, 26 having undercut faces 27, 28. In use the stud is located in the part-circular portion 13 of the slot 12 by flattening the clip against the support 33 and sliding the clip towards the stud. In a modification, the slot 24 is omitted, and the slot 12 has a longer tapered entry 14.
