Abstract

1284310 Reciprocating pumps TASK CORP 16 June 1970 [25 June 1969] 29053/70 Heading F1A A pump 13 has a by-pass 40, 40a controlled by a valve 41 controlled by the pump swash-plate 31 so that as the swash-plate is moved to reduce the pump output, the by-pass is opened, and vice versa. The pump casing interior 55 has a drain connection 54 leading to the pump inlet 17. A pressure-relief valve 60 connects the by-pass line line to casing interior 55, e. g. when a filter in the by-pass line becomes blocked. The swashplate is adjusted by a manual or other control 44 acting on by-pass valve extension 37, discharge pressure in passage 47 also acting on extension 37 to at least partly counterbalance spring 35. When the discharge pressure rises above a predetermined level, it moves valve 70a, 70b downwardly and acts via passage 76 on by-pass valve piston 36a to reduce the swash-plate inclination. A flow restriction 53 is provided in the by-pass line 40. A system incorporating the pump, Fig. 3 (not shown), comprises fluid utilization equipment connected to the pump outlet. The equipment discharge and the by-pass line are connected through filters to a fluid supply reservoir.
