Abstract

1374522 Hydraulic systems; reciprocating pumps BROWN BOVERI & CIE AG 11 Jan 1972 [14 Jan 1971] 1283/72 Headings F1A and F1P An electrically driven hydraulic actuator system comprises an electromagnetically operated reciprocating piston pump 7, such as an oscillating- armature pump, which has a unidirectional delivery for supplying hydraulic fluid to an hydraulic actuator having a working piston 1, the pump having by-pass lines 20 and 21, Fig. 6 connecting the pumping chamber 13 to the suction line 17 and discharge line 19, respectively, and opening into the pumping chamber at a position immediately in front of the piston 15 at the end of its suction stroke. The piston 1 has a rod 3 attached to one side thereof for actuating a valve 4, and has compression springs 6 bearing on the other side thereof. The suction side of the pump is connected by line 9 to the spring side of piston 1, the pressure side being connected to the other side of the piston. Two unidirectional pumps may be used together Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) and the pump or pumps may be mounted on the actuator housing Figs. 5a to 5d (not shown). In Fig. 7 (not shown) an alternative pump has a bucket piston (25), and the by-passes (29, 31) are formed in the cylinder wall. The by-passes permit return flow from the actuator when the pump is at rest.
