1284274 Lifting jacks J N SUNSERI 5 Aug 1969 39218/69 Heading B8J A jack 10 comprises a toothed rack 12 carrying a carriage 14 arranged to slide thereon. A pair of lever arms 18 is pivoted at 60 to the rear of the carriage 14 and extends upwardly and forwardly with a load-engaging pad 20 at its upper end. A second pair of lever arms 16 is pivoted at 50 to the rack 12 and at 52 to the arms 18. Lower parts 58 of the arms 18 are interconnected by a roller 62 engaging the bottom 28 of the rack 12, The carriage 14 is moved stepby-step along the rack 12 by operating a handle 66 of a ratchet device, the lower ends of the arms 18 being pulled towards end 48 of the rack 12 to elevate the pad 20.
