Abstract
772,610. Lift trucks. SHARP, J. R., and KAYE, E. May 11, 1955 [May 14, 1954], No. 14270/54. Class 78(3). In a lift truck the lifting carriage is raised and lowered by a vertical fluid pressure ram 40 which is located to one side of the longitudinal axis of the truck to improve forward vision through the mast. Lifting chains 50, 51, anchored to the fixed guides 14 at 48, 49 and to a lifting carriage 34 at 52, 53, co-operate with pulleys 42, 44 mounted on the ram piston-rod, and pulleys 46, 47 mounted on a hollow member 31 secured to the fixed guides, and effect movement of the carriage along the fixed guides. Carriage 34 carries the movable guides 27 along which a further carriage 28, carrying a fork 56 or other load-engaging member, is moved by chains 57, 58 anchored to guides 14 at 64, 65 and to the carriage 28 at 59, 60. Ram 40 is supported on guides 14 by a shelf 36 beneath which is located the battery 37. The front and rear portions of the truck are pivoted together about a horizontal axis 25a.
