Abstract

1284254 Reciprocating pumps and motors ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 19 April 1971 [29 July 1970] 23617/71 Heading F1A In an axial piston pump or motor comprising a rotary cylinder block 9 with pistons 18 engaging a non-rotary swash-plate 23, the angle of tilt of the swash-plate is adjusted by members 29, 29<SP>1</SP> acting through links 26, such that the swashplate pivots about the first axis of the piston shoe 20 of the piston in its top dead centre position, to maintain the clearance between the piston in its top dead centre position and the cylinder end-wall at a minimum and constant. The swash-plate is tiltable on either side of its zero-displacement position. As shown, tilting is effected by differential pistons 27, 27<SP>1</SP> controlled by slide valves 32, 32<SP>1</SP> operated by linked cams 34 , 34<SP>1</SP>. The valves providing a follow-up control. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the control valves are rotated and have helical control grooves within the pistons. In Fig. 3 (not shown), adjusting members 29, 29<SP>1</SP> are moved by electric motor-driven screw mechanisms, sensors detecting the swash-plate inclination being electrically connected to the electric motor control circuit. In Fig.4 (not shown), differential pistons controlling the swashplate are controlled by solenoid valves electrically connected with a control member and sensors detecting the swash-plate inclination. The control apparatus may operate to maintain a constant pump output pressure. Adjusting members 29, 29<SP>1</SP> alternatively may be mounted on casing closure plate 3 in alignment with pistons 18, one member then being held inoperative while the other effects tilting of the swash-plate.
