Abstract
1284159 Thermal recuperators THERMAL TRANSFER CORP 27 July 1970 [30 Sept 1969] 36191/70 Heading F4S In a recuperator assembly located within a housing 10 and comprising a plurality of vertical tubes 16 extending between upper and lower manifolds 20, 11 having tube sheets 19, 13 respectively, a flexible expansion compensator sheet 22 is sealingly fixed around the top ends of the tubes within the manifold 20. Tube retainer rings 21 are welded to the upper ends of the tubes 16 which are slidably received in openings 18 in the tube sheet 19. The lower ends of the tubes are welded to the tube sheet 13. The upper manifold 20 is supported by welding some of the upper ends of the tubes into the tube sheet 19. The arrangement described above allows the recuperator assembly to be supported either (a) on the base 12, as shown, so permitting the tubes to expand freely upwardly into the manifold 20 or (b) from the top tube sheet 19 (see Fig. 5) so permitting the tubes to expand and move freely downwardly.
