Abstract

1283972 Endless conveyers for moulds A H CROUCHER 20 April 1970 [25 June 1969] 32146/69 Heading B8A [Also in Division B5] A conveyer comprises conveying elements 18 movable along a closed path, in which the path includes substantially vertically superposed horizontal runs 11, 12 and vertical transfer runs 13, 14, the conveying elements in the transfer runs being in stacks which are supported for substantially vertically upward or downward movement. The movement along each horizontal run 11, 12, is provided by respective pushing rams 29, 31. Vertical movement in the upward transfer run is supplied by a lifting ram 22. Latch means 32 supports the stack above the lifting ram 33. The latter acts to add conveying elements 18 singly to the bottom of the stack by lifting the additional element 18, and the stack, clear of the latch means, until the latter returns to supporting position when the new stack is lowered on to it. The vertical movement in the downward transfer run is by gravity, under the control of a lowering ram 37. Latches 38 support the stack in the downward transfer run. The ram 37 is raised to a supporting position to support the stack while the latches are retracted by a solenoid 39 and is then lowered to claw the lowermost conveying element in the stack from the latches before the latter are returned to their normal position. As applied to the moulding of foamed polyurethane articles (see Division B5), the elements 18 comprise moulds 19 having lids 21 which are automatically opened to permit filling to take place along the run 11. The moulds are automatically closed at the end of the run 11. The run 12 comprises an oven.
