Abstract

1341697 Conveyers JACKSTONE FROSTER Ltd 19 April 1971 [20 Feb 1970] 8385/70 Heading B8A Apparatus for conveying articles or material through cooling or heating equipment (not shown) includes a roller conveyer 27, a feed and discharge elevator 23, horizontally movable pushers 12, 13 and vertically movable supports 17, 18. The pushers 12, 13 are interconnected and a sweep arm 30 is connected to the pusher 12. As shown, articles 36 are supported on carriers 11. In Fig. 1 it is assumed that stationary surfaces 22, 25 are full of carriers and that there is a carrier on each of the supports 18 as put there by a previous cycle. Upon moving the pushers 12, 13 to the right the distance of one carrier width, a carrier will be moved off each support 18 and a carrier will be transferred on to each support 17. Simultaneously the sweep arm 30 moves a row of articles from the roller conveyer 27 on to an adjacent carrier on the elevator 23. The supports 17 are then lowered one station, the supports 18 are raised one station and the elevator 23 is raised to bring a loaded carrier to the level of the surface 25. The pushers 12, 13 then move one carrier width to the left, a carrier is moved off each support 17 and a carrier is moved on to each support 18. Also a carrier is moved off the surface 22 on to the bottom of the elevator 23 and a row of articles is moved on to a discharge shoot 32 by a pusher 33 connected to the pusher 12. When the elevator 23 moves upwardly it causes the sweep arm 30 to raise and clear incoming articles on the conveyer 27. The elevator, Fig. 5, comprises a fixed centre frame 36<1> and two elevating frames 37. Successive raising and lowering of the frames 37 causes the carriers 11 to be transferred from pivoted pawls 42 on the frames 37 to pivoted pawls 41 on the frame 36<1>, the carriers eventually reaching the surface 25, Fig. 1.
