Abstract
1283237 Surface aerators for liquids J R KAELIN 26 Nov 1969 [28 Nov 1968] 57811/ 69 Heading B1C A rotatable surface aerator 2 comprises an upwardly diverging sheet with internal blades 3 having shrouds 14 forming a duct between adjacent blades having a slot of substantially constant width which enables obstructive solid matter to escape; the aerator can be rotated alternately in both directions with equal efficiency. As shown the blades have a maximum height intermediate their ends and the shrouds increase in width from the inlet 8 throughout the length of the blades. The shell may have an outer conical surface 20 and an inner convex surface 6 forming a buoyancy chamber 21 between them which may be filled with buoyant material 22. The device may be made of light alloy, glass fibre reinforced polyester resin, or other metal or plastics.
