Aerostats.-In order to provide an outlet for the escape of gas from kite balloons or air-ships when the gas pressure becomes excessive, a ripping panel is arranged to be opened automatically by an interior cord connexion to a part of the envelope. Fig. 1 shows a panel 1 connected by a cord 3 to the stern 5 of the envelope, which is normally drawn inwards by springs 6, 7 but is forced outwards when the gas pressure becomes excessive, thereby tearing off the panel as indicated in dotted lines. In a modification, the panel and cord are arranged in a gas-inflated fin.
