Parachutes ; aerostats.- In a lift-saving apparatus for aviators, comprising a balloon 1 connected through a valve or seal 5 to a compressed-gas container 2, and provided with a skirt 4 forming a parachute, the balloon and parachute are normally rolled up around a straight core and retained in crutches (i on the container 2, which is secured to the aviator by straps. When the valve or seal 5 is opened, the balloon is inflated and rises, together with the parachute, above the aviator.
