1282049 Cables DOW CHEMICAL CO 6 Aug 1969 39355/69 Addition to 1104987 Heading H1A An electrical power or signal conductor 10 is provided with an insulating layer 11 comprising paper-making fibres consolidated together and incorporating substantially spherical hollow particles of synthetic thermoplastics. The insulation is stated to have a reduced dielectric constant and dissipation factor compared with ordinary paper. The insulation may be deposited continuously around the conductor from a slurry or made into a tape (see Divisions D1-D2) which is longitudinally or helically wrapped around the conductor. The fibres may be of rag or wood pulp and the particles are preferably between 0À5 and 200 microns in diameter and form 0À25 to 60% by weight of the insulating layer. They may be of poly- (methyl methacrylate) or any of a number of specified polymers or copolymers.
