Abstract

128,190. Splitdorf Electrical Co., (Assignees of Mason, C. T.). June 8, 1918, [Convention date]. Inductor machines.-The magnets of an inductor magneto for igniting in internalcombustion engines &c. are spaced apart and arranged parallel to the rotor spindle with their like poles adjacent and connected by magnetic material. Blocks 2, 3 attached to the base 1 are bored out to receive holders 4, 5 containing bearings 6, 7 for the rotor spindle 8 having magnetic arms 9, 10 connected by a non - magnetic screw 11. The holders 4, 5 are pressed into the blocks 2, 3 at a distance corresponding to the length of the rotor, so avoiding the necessity for machining the rotor to an exact length. Laminated pole-pieces 12, 13 are supported by non-magnetic members 14, 15, 16, 17, which are secured to the blocks 2, 3. The blocks 2, 3 and pole-pieces 12, 13 are bored out at one operation. A core 19 having the primary and secondary coils 20, 21 wound on it is secured to the polepieces 12, 13 by clamps 22 provided with screws 23. A condenser 30 is attached beneath the coils and a plate 28 carries the contact breaker which is enclosed by a cover 29. The horse-shoe magnets are secured to the sides of the blocks 4, 5 by means of screws 31.
