Abstract

1281886 Cosmetic dispensing containers UNILEVER Ltd 6 Aug 1969 [9 Aug 1968] 38210/68 Heading B8P A lip -stick dispenser comprises a tubular body 10, an internally-threaded follower 18 slidably mounted in the body and having a continuous ring of longitudinal grooves 23 on its periphery, any one of which co-operates with a complementary longitudinal rib 12 on the body to prevent rotation of the follower in the body, and a knob-actuated screw-threaded spindle 14 for effecting longitudinal sliding movement of the follower in the body. The ring of grooves on the follower enables the follower to be assembled in the body with a minimum of relative body/ follower rotation. The follower has ribbed annular recesses for receiving the lipstick in either end so that it may be placed in the body either way round and is provided with a thin external sealing flange 24 which is punctured by the rib 12 on insertion into the tubular body. Knob 15 is integral with the spindle and is provided with a flange 17 having a snap-fastening engagement in the ribbed end 13 of the tubular body, the other end of the body being closed by a cap 11. The body is moulded from polystyrene, the cap and spindle is moulded from polypropylene, and the follower is moulded from low density polyethylene.
