Abstract
1281523 Pneumatic conveyers; hopper discharge CONCENTRIC PRODUCTION RESEARCH Ltd 18 Sept 1969 [24 Sept 1968 18 Jan 1969] 45253/68 and 3035/69 Headings B8A and B8S Articles, such as coil springs or rivets, in a closed chamber 10 are dispensed singly through an outlet 60 by air which is supplied under pressure through a union 21, a tube 20, a chamber formed in the lower closure assembly 13 of the chamber 10, and orifices 28. The articles are admitted to the chamber 10 from a hopper 48 which is rotatably mounted on the upper closure plate 38 of the chamber through a pivot assembly 50-55 incorporating an excess pressure relief valve. The base-plate 48a of the hopper 48 is formed with apertures which may be aligned with corresponding apertures in the closure plate 38. If an article becomes jammed in the outlet 60, a compressed air supply is connected to a union 23 whence the air passes through a tube 22, a passage 36, a bore 69 in projections 70 integral with the chamber wall, and bores 68, 67 to the outlet 60. The air then passes through the chamber 10, through orifices 27 and flap valves 78 into the tube 20, which has been connected to atmosphere.
