Abstract

1281448 Printing processes VALLEY PRINTING CO Ltd 8 June 1971 [11 March 1970] 11584/70 Addition to 1157312 Heading B6C A colour print comprises a flexible layer of unreceptive thermoplastic sheet material (as defined below) to which has been conventionally printed a layer of printwork in conventional ink (as defined below), the ink being such as normally is used for printing on paper and therefore not naturally adherent durably to such sheet material, and an overcoating of appropriate flexible synthetic lacquer (as defined below) that has permeated the printwork and has durably bonded the printwork to the base layer and has also provided a protective durable coating. Conventional inks are those defined as being oxidation polymerable colouring media suited for printing on paper. The specific sheet materials referred to are a group consisting of polyolefins, polyurethanes; polycarbonates; polyacetates and acetal copolymers. An appropriate synthetic lacquer comprises a lacquer which satisfactorily bonds to the particular type and grade of thermoplastic sheet material employed.
