Non-metallic elastic bodies and cores.-A rubber tyre is formed with two series of transverse apertures b, c shaped and arranged as shown, circumferential windings i, j of restraining cord or fabric, and helical windings of cord s looped around hooks t embedded in the hard-rubber bead cores g. The apertures b, c are formed by removable cores and are constrained to the shape shown by filling-pieces p of transverse cords or fabric arranged between the fabric &c. layers i, j. The cords s may extend backwards and forwards from edge to edge, or may be in two interlocking sets each extending from one edge to the tread. The bead cores q have their inner faces r of undercut form so as to press the tyre base f tightly on to the rim base under the lateral clamping of the rim flanges. The beads may be reinforced by circumferential wires u. Specification 128,024 is referred to.
