Abstract

1279556 Excavators POTAIN POCLAIN MATERIEL 20 April 1970 [21 Aug 1969] 18774/70 Heading E1F [Also in Division B8] A method of dismounting a counterweight 7 arranged at one end of a turret 2 pivotally mounted on the chassis 1 of a load handling machine e.g. a mechanical shovel, having main and auxiliary jibs 3, 4, comprises transferring the counterweight from the turret 2 to a support 8 on the chassis by means of the auxiliary jib 4, and thereafter removing the counterweight from the machine by means of the main jib 3 once the turret has been pivoted through 180‹. A constant length cling 10 is coupled between the counterweight 7 and the jib 4, which after the securing screws 9 have been removed from the weight 7, is actuated through an hydraulic ram 5 to transfer the weight 7 onto the support 8, after which the sling is disengaged and the turret rotated. The counterweight is then coupled to the main jib 3 through another sling on a block and tackle, whereby the weight 7 may be transferred from the machine, the main jib 3 being actuated through a cable 6 by movement of the auxiliary jib.
