Abstract
1278918 Gas lighter ZENZA BRONICA KOGYO KK 19 April 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 22269/71 Heading F4F [Also in Division H2] A gas lighter includes an operating device 1 for lighting which is pivotable about a vertical axis in a horizontal plane, assuming main body 7 of the lighter to be held vertical, and which on rotation about the pivot crosses the extended path of discharging gas from a nozzle 10. When the operating device 1, which also serves as a cover, is rotated by thumb pressure on a pressing portion 1<SP>11</SP> against the tension of spring 5, it actuates both the gas discharge and ignition systems. An inclined cam 13<SP>1</SP> of a sliding projection 13 formed on the underside of the device 1 depresses a projecting rod 12 connected to a lever 11 which acts to open a valve connected to the gas discharge nozzle 10. Simultaneously a cam 4 is rotated so as to lift and then release a hammer 6 which returns by tension of a spring 9 to strike a piezo-electric element 14, generating electricity which discharges between an electrode 15 and the nozzle 10, lighting the issuing gas. Projection 1r engages stopper 1s to control the maximum rotation of the device 1 and edge portion 7r of the pressing portion 1<SP>11</SP> engages stopper 7s to prevent the device from being actuated accidentally.
