Abstract

1,238,949. Spark igniters; controlling burners. ROBERTSHAW CONTROLS CO. 24 Sept., 1968 [25 Sept., 1967], No. 45337/68. Heading F4F and F4T. [Also in Division H2] In a piezo-electric igniter, e.g. for the pilot or main burners of a cooker, one or more piezoelements 57, Fig. 3, are supported in an aperture 32 in a frame 30 between a bowed spring 89 and a fixed cam 31 about which the frame can pivot under the influence of a push-button 28 engaging its free end, whereby the piezo-element is compressed. The cam and push-button are carried by a support 25 which may be fixed to the front panel 27 of a cooker. Fig. 7 shows a modification wherein the support 25 is extended to carry a valve 93 connected in the gas supply to the pilot burners 20B, 21B and having a rotatable conical plug 101 controlled by a knob 107 concentric with the push-button 28b. Prior to actuation of the igniter by the pushbutton, the knob 107 is rotated to turn on the gas supply which may then be left " on " depending on whether it is desired to have the pilot burners in continuous operation.
