Abstract
1277935 Vacuum switches; electric transformers TOKYO SHIBAURA DENKI KK 21 Nov 1969 [22 Nov 1968] 56989/69 Headings H1N and HIT Loss of vacuum in a vacuum switch is detected as liquid loss from a liquid filled enclosure surrounding the switch. In Fig. 2, an on-load tap changer has vacuum switches 10a, 10b combined with a tap selector switch 50 and vacuum switches 10c, 10d combined with tap selector switch 51. Oil-filled enclosures 15a to 15d surround the vacuum switches such that loss of vacuum, with the consequent leak of oil into the switch, is detected by bellows 63-66 having contacts 74-71 such that an alarm is actuated, the motor 53 is stopped and the transformer deenergized. The switches are operated by cams 56 to 59 through motor 53 and reduction gearing 52 which also operate the top charging switches. In Fig. 1 (not shown) the leak of fluid from the vacuum switch enclosure into the vacuum switch is detected by a contact bridging float in a liquid reservoir.
