Abstract

1,112,415. Withdrawable switchgear. CALOR-EMAG ELEKTRIZITATS-A.G. 22 April, 1965, No. 54792/67. Divided out of 1,112,414. Heading H1N. The plugging isolator contacts 13, 14 of a withdrawable switchgear (not shown) are arranged to operate a switch 4, 12 inside a sealed fluid-filled casing 5 when they separate so that a live contact is never open to the atmosphere and breakdown is prevented. The casing 5 which is attached to the fixed part 3 of the switchgear is filled with oil or SF6 which is maintained under pressure by a spring- urged piston 7. The fixed isolator contact 13 is mounted upon a free piston 11 urged downwards in a cylinder 10 by the pressure in casing 5 so that as the contact 14 is withdrawn the contacts 4, 12 separate first. The contact 14 is mounted on a conductor 15 fixed in the movable part 20 of the switchgear and is surrounded by a bushing 16 of cast resin which is movable relative to 15 and carries a flexible sleeve 18 which can be inflated to seal the space below piston 11. The seal is maintained during separation until the part 20 engages a projection on the bushing 16.
